Civil War Monument

Last Tuesday we went to see the Soldiers' Monument and Memorial Park in Winchester,Connecticut. That was a very interesting trip for all of us so we all could learn a lot about the monument from a wonderful guy, Steve ,who showed us the whole building and told the entire story about it.
He even took us to the top of the Monument which for some of us was a very scary thing to do but we all went there anyway and took some pictures.
It was a very beautiful view from the top of the building .We could see some territory of Winsted which was very cool.
I really enjoyed that trip:)

My visit to Mexico

I just returned from Mexico yesterday and that was a great trip for me because I discovered how the federal government is celebrating the bicentennial of its independence movement and the centennial of its revolution.

I visited my family and had a great time with them, and celebrated my son's birthday. It was the first time that we spent a long time together and that for me was wonderful.

It was interesting how all the doll clothes were made. marie

Solder's Monument

Here is a statue of a Civil War Soldier on top of the Soldiers' Monument. It was cast by Henry Bonnard Bronze Company, New York. The cost was $2,500.

Women used these combs to put back their hair. Doesn't it look painful!!!!

A baby's crib with blankets and a doll.
It was interesting to see how narrow the crib was in that time. Cribs today
are wider and bigger and stand higher up from the floor.

I noticed that on John Hinsdale's Bible. the date is 1861 ,this was the same year that the Civil War started.
